BEST OSAKO Saddle Stitchers
Osako & Company, Ltd. was founded in 1916, when Takumi Osako established the Osako Printing & Bookmaking Machinery Factory in Kanda-Ku, Tokyo. Since its inception, Osako has been exclusively engaged in the manufacture of bookmaking and stitching machines.

Focused Exclusively on Saddle Stitchers Since 1946
Osako is dedicated to the technical development and manufacturing of saddle stitchers with a goal to ever-increasing productivity, accuracy and labor savings in the bindery.
Osako has contributed many breakthrough developments to the industry, including an automated 3-knife trimmer in 1961,
a high-speed rotary paper feeder in 1964 and a computer-controlled cross-stacker in 1985.

A continuing tradition of technological leadership
Today, the company leads the way in microelectronics-based automation for saddle stitchers and cross-stackers, increasing bindery productivity dramatically. To quote the company's president, Tatsuo Osako, Osako's ongoing goal is to "rise above the world's engineering level in this field."

Market position
Among other accomplishments, Osako has grown to capture a 90% market share of all stitcher installations in Southeast Asia.

Best Osako models are all 11,000-13,000/hr. heavy duty stitchers designed for multiple shift operations, offering three levels of automation and three feeder styles, depending on the application. In addition to providing outstanding performance for sheetfed stocks, Osako stitchers are also highly regarded for running web stocks.

Osako's advanced production technology

A superior stitcher by any name
Most people in the graphic arts industry recognize the name, "Consolidated International." In addition to manufacturing horizontal cameras and darkroom doors, Chicago-based Consolidated International was the original U.S. importer-distributor for Muller-Martini stitchers.

In 1973, Muller-Martini set up a direct sales operation in the United States. To replace this business, Consolidated International looked to Osako, which was already a force in east Asia. They asked Osako to develop a saddle stitcher that could compete with - and even surpass - the Muller-Martini model they had been selling. In less than a year, Osako responded with a similarly-configured, rugged, high-performance stitcher that, we believe, improved on the original. So began the distribution of Osako stitchers in the United States.

Now known as Best Osako
After demonstrating years of award-winning customer service and technical support in the graphic arts marketplace, Best Graphics was awarded the exclusive North American distribution rights to Osako stitchers in 1998. Best purchased all of the remaining Osako assets of Consolidated International in 1999.
